Our Lowest Point Since Slavery
My Fellow Coloradoans,
Our country is at its lowest point since slavery. For some time now, we have been a partisan, fractured, and bickering mess, and now we are tolerating witlessness on a scale that is as immense as it is unprecedented. Our president is an ignorant liar, a man of zero moral or intellectual substance. We are being governed accordingly.
We are at war with Iran, a country that poses no threat to us, strategic, imminent, or otherwise. We are showing we are no better than the enemies we fought over the years by attacking schoolgirls. Every death in this war – on both sides – is a slaughter. This war – not declared by Congress as mandated in the Constitution – is both illegal and immoral.
One hundred years from now all new people – including Americans, if there are any left – will look back and wonder why we chose to appease Donald Trump. Because there was a time when America – from the media to the electorate – would have had the good sense to dismiss his ignorance, lies and blather.
Friends, we deserve better than this. We deserve a country not mired in ignorance, a country at peace with itself and the rest of the world. We deserve a country where ignorance is neither normal nor accepted, an America whose Congress, media, and electorate do not allow a mean, selfish, ignorant man to bully and overpower his way to what he wants.
Thank you for reading,
